About Blanchard Farms

Who we are

Blanchard Farms is a mixed, diversified farming business ran by the 3rd generation of the Blanchard Family. The business comprises:

  • arable production
  • contract farming
  • pig breeding and finishing
  • feed milling
  • conservation and stewardship
  • forage sales
  • let commercial and residential property
  • equestrian
  • renewable energy
  • self storage
  • online retail and wholesale firewood sales

Blanchard Farms is striving to create circularity between the enterprises and achieve self sufficiency in feed (cereals), nutrient (FYM and compost) and straw. The system reduces risk exposure by creating its own markets with the business for cereals and straw and saves haulage costs and claims by keeping grains and organic matter 'on farm'. This circular system in turn improves soil organic matter and condition. The business continues to invest in technology and has adopted and 10/30m "controlled traffic system" to increase efficiency and protect soils. Inputs, other resources and energy are all managed efficiently and sparingly with precision farming and variable rate technology.

Blanchard Farms are equipped to handle plough, min-till and direct drill systems. They are also equipped to fully satisfy the Precision Farming (PRF 1), No Till (SOH 1), Companion Crop (CIPM 3) options under SFI. This all de-risks and adds value to Landowners.

All in all, Blanchard Farms can offer flexible sustainable farming solutions for arable land to suit your requirements.

Blanchard Farms are actively looking for land to either rent, contract farm, or engage in a muck for straw agreement. Please do get in touch to discuss your requirements.

Edward joined the family business after university. He studied Sport Science at Durham University and Agriculture at the Royal  Agricultural University, Cirencester. Edward manages the arable side of the business, including arable contract farming. He also oversees all grain marketing (sales and purchasing). Operationally Edward is on the ground, in boots and driving round and the first point of contact for contract farming clients. His team of tractor drivers are hard at it but not adverse to passengers (contract farming clients or landlords) wanting to see their farm or the equipment!

Edward works closely with Ceres Rural (Charlie Ireland, George Badger and Philip Miles) who assist with agronomy, SFI and grant applications.
